    Screen Protection

A quality chimney cap acts as a protective barrier against birds, squirrels, leaves, and other debris that can clog your flue or create fire hazards. Many of our caps include integrated screening to help prevent animals from nesting inside your chimney while also reducing the risk of stray sparks escaping onto your roof. This added protection improves both safety and system efficiency.

Chimney Cap FAQ

Are your chimney caps made to order?

Yes, each chimney cap is designed custom per project. We do have some standardized dimensions that are part specific but overall foot print dimensions are done per project.

How do I know what size to order?

We typiclally recommend a .5" oversize on the length and width of the chimney cap. You can reference our Chimney Cap Size Guide along with our Chimney Cap Specification Sheet for details on sizing.

Are your chimney caps for wood burning or gas fireplaces

Our caps were designed as a standard for modern gas fireplaces, but we can customize further to work on wood burning chimneys. If needed for a wood burning fireplace we raise the height of the screen area. This would be determined by the size of the chimney flue(s).

Are the screens imperative?

For wood burning applications, yes, the mesh acts as a spark arrestor. For gas burning or simply decorative applications it is not imperative, however, we do recommend the screen to keep birds and animals from making a home inside.

What size is the screen mesh?

it is .47" square with .06" wire. This sits fits within standard code of .5" or less mesh size. It's large enough to allow ventilation but small enough to act as a spark arrestor and keep birds and animals out.
