The Modular Slab backsplash is composed of a series of custom-sized metal panels arranged together to create a bold, architectural statement in the kitchen. The panel layout introduces subtle seams that give the backsplash an industrial character while still maintaining a clean and refined appearance. While commonly installed behind ranges and cooktops, these modular panels can also be used to create striking accent walls in kitchens, bars, and other interior spaces.

All of our backsplashes are fabricated from solid Copper, Brass/Bronze, Zinc, or Stainless Steel and designed and manufactured in the USA.

A Modular Panel Backsplash Design

The Modular Slab backsplash uses a series of individual metal panels arranged together to form a cohesive surface behind the cooking area. The visible seams between panels create a subtle grid pattern that adds visual structure and architectural interest to the kitchen. This modular approach works especially well in modern and industrial-inspired interiors.

Designed for Larger Surfaces

Because the backsplash is made from multiple panels, the modular design allows the installation to scale easily across larger areas. This makes it a great option not only behind ranges and cooktops but also for full wall applications, bar backsplashes, or feature walls where a single slab would be impractical.

Built From True Architectural Metals

Each backsplash panel is fabricated from solid architectural metals rather than plated or coated materials. Copper, Zinc, Brass/Bronze, and Stainless Steel are commonly used in high-end architectural applications because of their durability and timeless appearance. These materials provide lasting performance while offering a depth and richness that manufactured finishes cannot replicate.

A Functional Surface Behind the Range

Beyond its visual appeal, a metal backsplash provides practical protection for the wall behind the cooktop or range. The durable surface helps guard against heat, grease, and moisture while remaining easy to clean. The smooth metal surface is easy to wipe clean and does not require grout lines like traditional tile backsplashes.

Natural Patina and Aging

One of the defining qualities of architectural metals is how they age over time. Copper, brass, and zinc gradually develop subtle shifts in tone and patina as they are exposed to the environment. This natural aging process gives the backsplash a living finish that continues to evolve, creating character that cannot be replicated with artificial coatings.

Custom Made for Your Kitchen

Every modular backsplash system is fabricated to order, allowing each panel to be sized specifically for your installation. This flexibility makes it possible to fit a wide range of kitchen layouts while maintaining a balanced and intentional panel pattern. Because each installation is custom built, the finished backsplash becomes a distinctive architectural element within the space.

Modular Slab Backsplash FAQ

What size backsplash do I need behind my range?

Most backsplashes are sized to match the width of the range or cooktop below it. Common widths include 30", 36", and 48", but custom sizes are available to suit your kitchen layout.

Can modular backsplash panels be installed as a full wall?

Yes. Modular backsplash panels can be installed across larger wall areas to create a full metal accent wall. The panel seams form a structured grid pattern that adds architectural interest to kitchens, bars, and other interior spaces.

Can the backsplash be made to custom dimensions?

Yes. Because each backsplash is fabricated to order, custom widths and heights can be produced to fit your specific space.

What is the advantage of a modular backsplash?

A modular backsplash uses multiple metal panels rather than a single slab. This allows the backsplash to cover larger wall areas while creating a distinctive architectural pattern through the panel seams.

Will the metal change color over time?

Yes. Natural metals such as copper, zinc, and brass develop a patina as they age. This gradual change in tone is a normal and desirable characteristic of architectural metals.

Is a metal backsplash difficult to clean?

No. Metal backsplashes are easy to maintain. Most cleaning can be done with mild soap and water and a soft cloth.

Can this backsplash be installed behind a gas or electric range?

Yes. These backsplashes are designed for use behind both gas and electric cooking surfaces.

Do you offer finish samples?

Yes. We recommend ordering finish samples so you can see and feel the metal before placing an order.

Can the backsplash be used with a range hood?

Yes. Modular Slab backsplashes are commonly installed behind ranges and beneath range hoods, creating a cohesive focal point in the kitchen.

Can a metal backsplash be installed over tile or drywall?

Yes. Metal backsplashes can typically be installed directly over drywall or over an existing tile surface, depending on the installation method. Always follow the installation guidelines or consult a contractor to ensure proper mounting.
